Discuss Korea-Georgia cooperation and the future of the U.S.-ROK alliance

By UN Journal Lee Jon-young

President Yoon Suk-yeol received Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, the U.S., on June 18 and exchanged views on the direction of Korea-Georgia cooperation and the development of the U.S.-ROK alliance.

The President praised Governor Kemp for his active contributions to the development of bilateral relations, including receiving the Van Fleet Award for promoting economic cooperation between Georgia and South Korea last year, and asked him to support Korean companies in Georgia in the fields of electric vehicles and batteries to operate in a favorable environment and contribute to the mutually beneficial development of Korea-Georgia relations.

The President also requested Governor Kemp's interest and support for the approximately 100,000 Korean Americans living in Georgia to contribute to the development of the state as members of the local community.

Gov. Kemp said the U.S.-ROK alliance is stronger than ever under the President's leadership.

Noting that Korean companies and the Korean American community in particular are an indispensable asset to the development of Georgia, Kemp vowed to spare no effort as governor to further expand the economic, people-to-people, and cultural ties between Georgia and the United States.
