Exchanged views on U.S.-China relations, cybersecurity, and AI cooperation

Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul met with Eurasia Group Chairman Ian Bremmer on June 21, during his visit to New York, and exchanged views on U.S.-China relations, cybersecurity, and AI cooperation. 

 

Minister Cho and Chairman Bremmer exchanged views on various ways to promote mutual strategic stability on the economic and security fronts amid the growing strategic competition between the U.S. and China, and agreed on the importance of maintaining continuous public engagement and communication. 

 

 

The two sides also discussed a wide range of issues, including U.S.-ROK, China-ROK relations, military cooperation with Russia, inter-Korean relations, U.S. political trends such as the U.S. presidential election, social phenomena emerging in the cyber and AI era, and the future of the world, and exchanged views on the importance of building a sense of community and educating the whole person for this purpose. 

 

Minister Cho explained the Korean government's efforts to form global AI norms, including the 2nd REAIM High-Level Meeting in September, and asked for Chairman Bremmer's interest and cooperation, and Bremer appreciated Korea's efforts and promised to actively support them.
