Speaker Yeom Jong-hyun of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly met with a delegation from the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province in Vietnam at the Assembly's Grand Hall on April 25.

Chairman Yeom actively proposed a cooperation plan by proposing to hold an 'investment attraction briefing session' to the delegation of the Dak Lak Province People's Committee, which hopes to strengthen economic exchanges between the two regions.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Yeom, Representative Oh Jun-hwan of the People's Power Party, Parliamentary Secretary Kim Jong-seok, and Vice Chairman Vo Van Canh of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.

Before the meeting, Chairman Yeom briefly introduced Gyeonggi Province's population, industry size, and regional characteristics to the delegation, and explained the size and role of the provincial council.

He then assessed the relationship between the provincial council and Vietnam and expressed his willingness to strengthen international exchanges.

“The Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly is in close contact with 11 local councils in seven countries around the world,” said Chairman Yeom. “In particular, last year, we held successful international exchanges, including mutual visits to Vietnam's Nghe An and Ha Nam provinces, which are Friendship League regions.”

“Although the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee delegation is not a Friendship League region, we would like to take today's meeting as an opportunity to cooperate betwen both organizations and regions to achieve practical results,” he said. “We propose that Dak Lak Province hold an investment promotion briefing with excellent companies from Gyeonggi Province, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly will also strive to strengthen exchanges between the two sides.”

Representative Oh Jun-hwan said, “I am pleased to see the beginning of exchanges between Dak Lak Province and the Assembly, and I hope that this meeting will revitalize inter-agency exchanges in various fields such as culture and tourism.”

In response, Vice Chairman Vo Van Canh said, “Dak Lak is a province with high potential for development, with diverse resources such as coffee and trees, and abundant labor force. I hope that the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly will show great interest in helping Dak Lak Province boost its agricultural exports and tourism sector based on exchanges with Gyeonggi Province.”

Dak Lak Province is a provincial-level administrative unit in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, with an area of 13,062 square kilometers and a population of 2.12 million.
