National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Kim Seok-ki (People Power Party, Gyeongju) met with Ambassador Asal Al-Tal of Jordan on Aug. 19 to discuss bilateral relations between Korea and Jordan, as well as key issues.
Jordanian Ambassador to Korea Asal A-Tal said, “Many Korean companies are present in Jordan. Hyundai Motor Company is the No. 1 automaker in Jordan,” and said, ”We look forward to further expanding our bilateral exchange and cooperation.”
“Jordan is a key partner of Korea in the energy and water sectors,” Chairman Kim said, adding that the memorandum of understanding signed between Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission last year on innovative small modular reactors will further develop bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Estonian Ambassador to Korea Sten Schwede, who also met with Chairman Kim on Aug. 20 said, “It is an honor to meet with Chairman Kim as our bilateral relations have grown even closer since the opening of the Embassy in Seoul in December 2020.”
Chairman Kim thanked Ambassador Schwede for his visit and said, “As we are in the process of opening an Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Estonia, we look forward to further strengthening our bilateral ties and cooperating in the future, and I am sure that Ambassador Schwede will play a great role as the first Ambassador of Estonia to the Republic of Korea.”
