President Lee Jae-myung held his first phone call with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh on September 4, following his inauguration. President Lee expressed his gratitude for the Mongolian President's congratulatory message upon his inauguration and for once again extending congratulations during this call.

The two leaders assessed that cooperation across all fields between the two countries has significantly developed over the past 35 years since establishing diplomatic relations in 1990.

They agreed to further deepen and develop the ‘strategic partnership’ between the two nations, taking the launch of our new government this year as an opportunity.

President Lee particularly emphasized expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Mongolia, rich in mineral resources, and South Korea, possessing advanced technology.

President Lee also welcomed the opening of the memorial hall for independence activist Lee Tae-jun, who practiced medicine in Mongolia while leading the anti-Japanese movement, and expressed gratitude for Mongolia's cooperation.

Furthermore, both leaders agreed that active people-to-people exchanges between their nations form a solid foundation for Korea-Mongolia relations and pledged to invigorate such exchanges.

President Khurelsukh expressed gratitude for President Lee's personal deep interest and support for migrant workers, including Mongolian nationals residing in Korea.

The two leaders agreed to jointly open a new 35-year chapter in Korea-Mongolia relations based on close communication.
