President Lee Jae-myung will visit New York, USA, from Sept. 22 to 26 to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. On his first day of arrival, President Lee is scheduled to meet with Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm.

During this meeting, they will discuss cooperation on artificial intelligence (AI) and energy transition. Subsequently, the President will meet with a delegation of U.S. House and Senate members and hold a meeting with Korean nationals.

On the following day, the 23rd, President Lee will deliver a keynote address at the UN General Assembly.

National Security Advisor Wi Sung-lac stated, “Through his speech, President Lee will declare the return of a democratic Republic of Korea and present our government's diplomatic vision, including policies for the Korean Peninsula,” adding, “He will also explain Korea's contribution to achieving peace and prosperity for humanity.”

On the 24th, he is scheduled to preside over an open debate of the UN Security Council, the first time a Korean leader has done so.

President Lee is expected to emphasize a joint international response for peace and prosperity under the theme ‘AI for All’ during the discussion.

Regarding the much-anticipated second South Korea-U.S. summit, National Security Advisor Wi stated, “We are not planning a meeting with US President Donald Trump.”

He added, "We have recently held talks with President Trump. Additionally, the possibility of a summit in October remains open,“ adding, ”This time, due to complex scheduling and circumstances, we have not planned a meeting."

The “October summit” mentioned by Wi appears to refer to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Gyeongju.

Wi conveyed that instead of meeting with President Trump, President Lee plans to hold talks with the UN Secretary-General, followed by meetings with leaders from France, Italy, Uzbekistan, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

On the 25th, President Lee will attend an investment summit event featuring a large gathering of economic and financial figures from Wall Street.
