UNJournal Kayla Lee  |  U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Michelle Steel hosted a group of outstanding Korean Fulbright scholars for breakfast at Habib House ahead of their departure for graduate studies in the United States.

The gathering was held to celebrate the scholars’ academic journey and encourage them as they prepare to pursue advanced studies and research at universities across the United States.

Ambassador Steel spoke with the scholars about their aspirations and expectations, emphasizing the important role that educational and academic exchanges play in strengthening mutual understanding and trust between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

“The experiences and knowledge they bring back will help shape the future of the U.S.-ROK Alliance,” Ambassador Steel said, wishing the scholars every success as they grow into the next generation of leaders bridging the two nations.

The Fulbright Program is one of the world’s leading international educational exchange initiatives, promoting mutual understanding through academic study, research and cross-cultural engagement.

During their time in the United States, the Korean scholars are expected to deepen their expertise, build meaningful international networks and gain new perspectives. Upon their return, their experience is expected to contribute to closer cooperation between the two countries in academia, science, culture, public policy and other fields.

The breakfast at Habib House marked both a celebration of the scholars’ new beginning and a reaffirmation of the enduring importance of people-to-people ties in carrying the U.S.-ROK Alliance forward into the next generation.
