Chang, Sung Soun’s era was a period of confusion until the Manchurian Incident, the Sino-Japanese War, and then the Liberation and the Korean War. But the situation of the times and the handicap of hearing impairment rather disciplined his will and made him an independent spirit. The spirit o resistance formed in these wounds gave courage and motivation to challenge mainstream directly, and furthermore, to try creative and experimental styles.
Artist, renowned through his famed approach of perfecting the exquisite balance between the Eastern calligraphic and Western structural traditions, expresses beautifully the unseen and diversely nested layers of world, culminating through the lens of the Artist’s own inner view and independently unique insight.
The reason for the power and beauty emanating out of Artist’s visual art is, because his abstract art is that of a calm and easy-going landscape painting rather than the complication of abstruse notions.
