South Korea and China hold director-general level regular consultations

Exchanged views on issues of the West Sea and the Korean Peninsula

Director-General for Northeast and Central Asian Affairs Kang Young-shin held a consultation in Seoul with the Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Liu Jinsong on July 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

 

The previous ROK-China director-general-level consultation was held on December 30, 2024, in China.

 

 

Both sides agreed to maintain communication at all levels, building on their shared understanding of the need to seize the opportunity of the upcoming APEC Summit in Gyeongju to further advance the ROK-China relationship.

 

They also discussed concrete measures for cooperation in various areas, including economic cooperation that can deliver tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.

 

Both sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including matters related to the West Sea and the Korean Peninsula.

 

In addition, on Wednesday, July 2, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Chung Byung-won met with Director-General Liu and emphasized the importance of continued efforts to further promote the mature development of the ROK-China strategic cooperative partnership.
